The currency in World of Warcraft is WoW Gold. Without this WoW Gold you cannot get the skills and the equipment you need for your character. Every character is as good as its equipment, so you have to earn enough WoW Gold to get all this equipment.
You need 100 copper for 1 silver and 100 silver for one WoW Gold. The fastest way to get WoW Gold is to buy it in the internet on WoW Gold Seller websites. You can get WoW Gold ingame, with farming, crafting and questing, but this ways are long and difficult ways to get WoW Gold.
